No matter how advance India become, we never leave our roots .. Right, and thats why we Indians have the right to ask for dowry in open or privately, before marriage and after marriage when we get our boys married. After all he is a boy ... God has given supernatural powers to a boy. An IIT scholar did suicide recently cos she couldn't handle the pressure of marriage and dowry demand. Is there in a world any other place other than India where such practice exist? Not in western world for sure. we take everything from west be it clothing, food, lifestyle but nah, we dont change deep rooted cultural values u know. She is not the only victim. When we read newspaper, we will get the hell lot of incidents and mind it, these are reported ones. Small little events happening with many ladies at home and the mental pressure they might be living are not even counted. Girl families do sell their land or exhaust their lifetime savings for marriage and then if such happens to a girl .. think what might be the condition of parents.
Ashtavarka gita philosophy emphasise on looking towards others as soul and not the body. We teacch the whole world and forget to apply on ourselves. Even after a generation or many generations, there is no hope for better... if we don't change now. How many more girls have to be a sacrifice for this ugly practice? Don't know... but be vigilant and never give girls in homes where such practice prevails or they talk about it.
